Three Tips To Help You Get To Your Destination On Time

Posted on

Each day, someone arrives late to their flight, or they miss their flight altogether. Unfortunately, this can cost a lot of money and time trying to reschedule their flight and get to their destination on time. One survey suggested that 15% to 20% of Americans are consistently late. Whether you are traveling for business or heading on vacation, you want to make sure you arrive at your destination on time. In many cases, there could be technical issues with the plane or traffic that can cause you to be late, but many times the problem is lack of preparation. In an effort to make it to your destination on time, here are some helpful tips to consider.

Make Sure You Know the Right Gate

When you are heading through a busy airport, your gate could be hundreds of feet away from where you arrive. It is important to always make sure you have the right information about what gate you need to be at. Many times, an airline will change the gate for the flight. When this happens, you need to find out right away. This can be done using your mobile device. There are several apps available to download that will notify you when your gate has changed. This provides you the proper gate number when you arrive at the airport. Additionally, check out the airline's site to see if they have made any announcements about your flight before you arrive.

Arrive to the Airport on Time

When it comes to making your flight, it is crucial that you arrive to the airport in plenty of time. You have to consider airport security, check-in lines, and possibly getting through customs. A good rule of thumb is to be at the airport at least an hour before your domestic flight and two hours before an international flight. Because traffic can delay you, you want to book your airport transfer with someone who is very knowledgeable about the area and the traffic at the time you will be headed o the airport. They can help you determine what time you need to be picked up.

Avoid Holiday Traveling

If it is possible, you want to book your trip around any major holidays to avoid the crowds. Since holidays are big times for traveling, you can expect the check-in lines and parking to be very hectic. If you cannot avoid traveling during this time, then you want to prepare ahead of time. Check out off-airport parking that can be reserved ahead of time. This usually cost less than the airport parking and you can ensure that you have a spot when you arrive. You can then take a shuttle, like King Airport Shuttle, to the airport from the lot.
